Perhaps the most famous Children’s Hospital in the world, Great Ormond Street Hospital was an early adopter of our high performance ‘Vertical’ ‘WISKAWAY’® Visitor Wallbeds for various Wards in their older Southwood Building – (often fitted into the additional Ward space created by glazing in and incorporating part of the central lightwell balconies) and they subsequently also became a major customer for our transformative ‘GLIDEAWAY’® Visitor Guestbeds, which are currently in widespread use there, over many of the Wards.

[In fact, it was a visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital that originally alerted us to their use of  flimsy, non-compliant, ‘domestic’ guest beds to accommodate parents overnight, (which were having to be replaced again and again, every few weeks/months) that inspired us to develop our award winning, high performance ‘GLIDEAWAY’® Visitor Guestbeds].

Over the years, Great Ormond Street Hospital have added new wings and buildings, some of which were originally equipped with chair beds/recliners, which have proved very unpopular with both visitors and staff.

A recent programme has seen these recliners being replaced, on various Wards, with our side-ways folding ‘Horizontal’ ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H Visitor Wallbeds, with wipe-clean/ waterproof ‘FLEXICA’® Mattresses, which together offer much greater comfort and ease-of-use and pivot away, fully made up, complete with all the bedding, into a compact, wipe-clean, integral housing.

In 2024 the Hospital asked us to make several special modifications to our standard ‘Horizontal’ ‘WISKAWAY’® 6000H, which we were happy to do. This involved providing an alternative bed base and improving access for cleaning to the space between the new bed base and the front panel. The modified bed, (Model 6000SB, illustrated below) has, so far, been installed on several Wards.
